Reviews about Cricklade Veterinary Surgery

  • I have used Purton vets for over forty years. Since Graeme took over, the practice has proven to excel in all I have been a client of Purton Vets for over 40 years. Since Graeme took over, the practice has given me and my pets excellent veterinary care. The reception staff are welcoming, friendly, and sympathetic to clients concerns. The vets are professional, knowledgeable, friendly and show empathy to patients and their owners at all times and in particular at difficult times. Nothing seems too much trouble and the team are prompt conveying results by telephone. The team are dedicated and I would recommend this surgery to other pet owners. Why shouldn't our furry friends have the best. Thank you Graeme and the team. Special thanks to vet Philippa Hunt.

  • From Linda Liddiard I am a British citizen, living in Italy with my husband and our 3 rescue dogs, one of whom, Milo, has the disease Leishmaniosis. This is a Malaria type disease, that is not contagious, but has to be managed carefully as it weakens the immune system. Milo needs bi-annual blood tests to monitor his condition. The last test read 'Negative', that indicates the disease is in recession as there is not a cure. I received two conflicting opinions from Leishmania specialist in Italy as to how we should proceed with treatment for a Negative result. Being unsure which advice to take, I decided to seek the opinion of a Vet in England. Purton Veterinary Group treat dogs with Leishmania, so I called them. I received a friendly response from Nickie, who patiently listened to Milo's story with interest. She then referred me to the Veterinary Department at Bristol University and said I could call her back if I needed further assistance. This I did, because the University could not pass on Veterinary information to unqualified persons. Nickie told me to expect an email from their Senior Vet, who would try to help me. An email arrived from Graeme Park that day, asking for more information regarding Milo's condition and outlining the present thinking on treating a dog with a Leishmania Negative result. I sent the information he needed and Graeme contacted a Specialist in Spain who is experienced and up dated in the treatment of Leishmania. Within a short time Graeme was back to me with his findings. They being that after a Negative result the blood should be re-tested for inflammation, which is already done in Italy. Then there is another test, recommended by the Specialist in Spain that is not available here. Our Italian Vet is on to that and has made enquiries at the Laboratory where the blood samples are sent. In the meantime we are withholding Milo's medication, but giving him more frequent blood tests. The medication will be reintroduced if necessary. Positive advice at last. What a relief! I cannot praise Purton Veterinary Group enough. I have the impression they are a close and efficient team dedicated to achieve what we pet owners want most from a Veterinary service, That is that to help our pets to stay with us for as long as possible. If we lived closer, their practice would be the place where we'd take our sick or injured pets. I highly recommend them
